    Dr. Peter Hahn, president and CEO of Metro Health – University of Michigan Health, is an experienced physician leader who draws on his extensive clinical experience and business expertise to ensure patients have access to world-class healthcare in West Michigan.

    Before becoming the region’s first physician-CEO, Hahn was Chief Medical Officer at Metro Health, and was instrumental in the health system’s groundbreaking affiliation with Michigan Medicine, one of the world’s most respected academic medical centers. As CEO, he has strengthened that affiliation with greater integration resulting in region-leading clinical programs, centers of excellence and progressive solutions for patients and their families.

    Dr. Hahn applies strategic vision and leadership to advance Metro Health as a destination for leading medical expertise, quality, innovation and technology. Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential components of this vision. He has made DEI a strategic priority for Metro Health, establishing leadership and key performance indicators across the organization.

    Dr. Hahn trained at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, where he was a Mayo Foundation Scholar, received the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award and spent several years on faculty.

    He is widely published through contributions to clinical studies, book chapters and reviews, most recently co-authoring an influential 2020 study on the advantage of minimally invasive procedures to treat certain types of lung collapse.

    Hahn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Michigan before earning his Medical Degree at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee Haslam College of Business.

    Hahn serves on a number of community boards including Opera Grand Rapids and the Grand Rapids Symphony, reflecting his lifelong passion for the arts and their contribution to the human experience and overall wellbeing.
