    Dr. Pickering is an assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is an interventional pulmonologist within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In addition, he is the director of both Interventional Pulmonology and the Medical ICU at the Baltimore VA. Dr. Pickering specializes in thoracic oncology, benign/malignant central airway obstruction, minimally invasive diagnosis and staging of lung cancer, and pleural disease.

    Dr. Pickering graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology. After working as a research associate at the University of California at San Francisco, he completed his M.D. at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. After graduating with honors, he did his residency the University of Connecticut and stayed for another year as Chief Medical Resident. He then completed his fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After joining the faculty, he completed an additional year of advanced training in Interventional Pulmonology.
